Shadowbox Fun

Hi everyone,

Today I'm showing you a shadowbox that I did for my daughter's room. It turned out really well, much better than I had anticipated.

I had bought the shadowbox at Pottery Barn about six years ago and didn't know what to do with it until finally I sat down and just started playing around. The first thing I did was paint it as it was originally white. I used the Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and used her colour chart to get the colour I wanted. I'm so happy with the result.

I'm finally starting to get some projects done that have been laying around for some time and in the next few days I'll be posting those as well.

Now, it's back to our regularly scheduled laundry ...

Happy crafting!

Supplies:

Shadowbox: Pottery Barn

Paint: Claudine Hellmuth Studio

Butterfly, flower, leaves, crystals: Prima

"O"

Hi everyone,

I did this canvas for my daughter's room and it actually turned out really well. Now only if I could take pictures properly! I really need to work on that!

This was pretty easy to make. I painted a 12 x 12 canvas and then put a piece of 12 x 12 paper on top and then embellished. It adds such a nice element to my daughter's newly decorated room.

Busy day today so I'll keep this short. Have a great day everyone and Forza Italia!

Supplies:

Paper: Prima
Flowers: Prima
Pearls/Crystals: Prima
Ribbon: Prima
Paint: Claudine Hellmuth Studio
O: Making Memories
Other: grungeboard, glimmer mist, canvas

I'm Back!

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging but life has gotten in the way of living and also I haven't had a lot of creative mojo lately. I think between hockey playoffs (yay Hawks!), getting a new dog, and dealing with all the day-to-day stuff that is going on, I didn't have a lot of energy left (or motivation, for that matter) to create.

Anyway, I'm back now, and hopefully will post a little more regularly. Here's a card I did a while ago (sorry for the bad photo).

Supplies:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Paper: Basic Grey

Stamp: Inkadinkado

Other: Glimmer Mist, Flowers by Prima, crystals, ribbon

Happy crafting!

Bad Blogger

I've been a bad blogger! Or, absent blogger is more like it. Life has been getting in the way of crafting lately so I hope to be A LOT more consistent than I have been.

This week I'm finishing painting my daughter's room. Have I mentioned how much I hate painting? I love the finished result but the prep work and the actual painting is not that fun. I want to paint my kitchen but it's not looking promising for the time being.

Anyway, later on this week I hope to have something to show you as soon as my daughter's room is finished.

Happy crafting!

What a Difference!

Hello there!

How is everyone's organizing going? I must say that my craft room has totally changed in the past two weeks, and all because I got rid of a lot of stuff. Here are some pictures:

It's not finished yet but it is looking so much better! I still have a few things to go through but for the most part the decluttering is done. Next will be painting and replacing the flooring, which I'm hoping to do in the next month or so. It's trying to find those blocks of time to get the big jobs done that's the hard part.

Now that the room is so much cleaner I can find things easier and also it's a better environment for creating. So, this weekend I hope to do some creating and post it here.

So, I hope my decluttering is an inspiration to you to get your craft space decluttered. It's very liberating and also I firmly believe it will make you a more creative person.

On a side note, this week my favourite player in the NHL retired. Michael Peca was a player that gave his all every night on the ice. He was one of the best defensive forwards in the league and a true leader on and off the ice. I have so many wonderful memories of him playing and I was fortunate to be able to see him play live a few times. Here is a nice interview he did with HNIC Radio.

Thank you, Mike, for all the great memories and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Happy crafting!

Confession Time

If you were to come into my home you would see that it is pretty clean and well organized. That is, every room, except one: the craft room.

I am very lucky in that I have a whole room dedicated to all my crafting materials. However, it is also the room where the kids do their crafts and the room wherea lot of miscellaneous things get dumped. I'm always trying to clean it to no avail.

This year I decided that it would be the year that I would get this room cleaned and organized once and for all. It is a huge job but it needs to be done.

I have more scrapbooking supplies than some stores and it's time to get serious and start purging. I've got enough paper to wallpaper every house on my street; enough rub-ons to cover my whole room; enough stamps and inks to last a lifetime. I think you get the picture.

I know that I'm not the only one in this position. There are many of us out there who have too much stuff and can't see the forest for the trees. It's time to clean house and start fresh. I find that I'm not creating as much as I would like because it takes forever to find anything amongst the disaster. I know for me, I'm much more creative in a relatively clean space.

So, I'm going to do something I would normally not do and that's post pictures of my craft space. I'm not big in people seeing my home as I always feel like I'm being judged (that's a whole other issue) but I feel it's important for me to post these pictures so then it will make me accountable and start doing the cleaning that needs to be done.

Join me in this cleaning/organizing adventure and hopefully it will inspire you to do the same.

Happy organizing!
